The KORE3 Ø355mm Hybrid Big-Brake Kit for the GM tall-spindle application adapts a combination of the larger C6 Z06 rotors and the more cost effective 2-piston C5/C6 Corvette calipers to your GM tall-spindle equipped vehicle running big wheels. C5/C6 front components are a significant improvement over the original Ø11" and Ø12"disc configurations that were available on the various GM tall-spindle applications ranging from the 1970-1981 F-bodies through the 1994-1996 Impala SS. The C6 Z06 rotors used with this kit measure Ø355mm x 32mm thick (Ø14.0" x 1.26") and have either directional or pillar vane construction, providing higher brake torques, additional thermal mass, improved feel and better cooling for more aggressive, sustained driving without brake fade.
C5/C6 front calipers are pressure cast aluminum with full width stiffening ribs in order to maximize caliper
rigidity, extend service life, and improve pedal firmness and feel,
all in a compact, lightweight package. The C6 calipers are interchangeable with the C5 calipers and are approximately 25% more rigid due to additional material across the bridge of the calipers. Both C5 and C6 calipers have twin Ø40.5mm pistons and utilize a pad abutment design, where the braking torque is transmitted directly from the pads into the pad abutment brackets and the spindles they are mounted to, leading to better performance you can feel at the pedal.
There is vast aftermarket support for C5/C6 rotors and brake pads to suit nearly anybody's needs and/or budget. This KORE3 big-brake kit provides more braking performance per dollar than any other making it ideally suited for the front of almost any GM tall-spindle application, whether you're grocery-getting, pro-touring, or a little bit of both.
Notes:
- KORE3 GM Tall-Spindle Kit is designed for GM tall-spindles that use SET6 inner wheel bearings only, of which there are many variations, including the ABS applications such as the
1994-1996 Impala SS (see HD 5x5 kits). All tall-spindles are cast and the KORE3 brackets work with all all variations but the hubs will only work with SET6 inner wheel bearing versions. The outer wheel bearing differences are important to note when specifying
hubs to run
with this KORE3 big-brake conversion.
- Kit installation requires moderate, irreversible spindle modifications with basic metal fabrication tools. All necessary modifications are detailed in the instructions.
- Minimum Ø18" or larger wheels are required, however not
all Ø18" wheels will fit. Please verify fitment prior to ordering using the appropriate KORE3 fitment template. Wheel fitment is the buyer's responsibility. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your specific application or the proper use of the templates.
